MULTAN, March 20, 20114: Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Punjab-TEVTA) on Saturday launched a sensitization campaignto create awareness among the students from general stream of education on technical education & vocational training (TVET).
In this connection the Punjab-TEVTA organized awareness sessions in four different male and females institutes of Multan, where hundreds of students from different schools and their parents participated and got first-hand information about TVET opportunities and its importance.This special drive is supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Federal Republic of Germany and Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Sessions were held inGovernment Technical Training Institute GTTI (Boys) Khanewal Road Multan, Government Technical Training Institute (Women)Shah Ruknay-e-Alam Colony Multan, Government Vocationaltraining Institute (GVTI) for Women Vehri and Government Technical Training Institute for Boys Vehri on March 20, March 21, and March 22, 2014 respectively. In these sessions students of 8th, 9th and 10th class, were given orientation on the TVET opportunities and how they can adopt it as a career path.
Trainees of the GGTI and GVTIalso set up stalls, displaying their skills for the studentson the sidelines of the respective sessions. Members of Punjab Provincial Assembly, lawyers’ leaders, principals and TVET experts shed light on the importance of being skilled and urged the youth to adopt TVET as their career option.
