A CBT beneficiary of TVET Sector Support Programme employed at a consumer goods brand as Territory Sales Manager

Hailing from a gold business background in Larkana, Yasir Rajput completed his bachelor’s in commerce degree and looked for a better opportunity to learn on his own in business management and sales. He got enrolled in a three-months’ course of customer service and sales distribution at ZABTech Larkana, Sindh. Yasir says, ‘when I started learning at ZABTech, it felt like a whole new experience of understanding the business dynamics, though I already had a business communication and management degree as my formal education’.

After the completion of the course he was hired for on-job training at Arshad Motors where he learnt the business dynamics in the real world-of-work. After the OJT he was hired at a local kids’ product brand as sales manager and proved his skills in sales and distribution. Yasir was promoted to the senior sales manager only in six months’ time at that brand.

He had an urge to learn more and challenge himself with new adventures, he applied for a position of area sales manager at another consumer goods brand and was hired considering his skills set and portfolio. Now Yasir is promoted to the territory sales manager position and is performing even better and earning well. This is not the end, this has not stopped Yasir of dreaming big and achieving better goals in his career.

After gaining all this experience Yasir is now working on his own brand of kids’ products in Sindh province in first phase. He attributes all this success to the skills he learnt at ZABTech with the support of TVET Sector Support Programme. Yasir truly acknowledges the contribution a competency-based-training has in his life and wishes to become the part of industry leaders one day for delivering back to the society.

Yasir is the beneficiary of TVET Sector Support Programme, which is working with NAVTTC, provincial TEVTAs and PVTC since 2011 for bringing reforms in TVET Sector. The second phase of programme has funding of 62.5 mn euro for implementation of reforms in the TVET sector of Pakistan on national, provincial and regional level. The Programme is funded by the European Union, Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Norwegian Embassy. In second phase of its implementation, programme is supporting competency-based-training of 36,800 men and women on the indigenous and industry-demand-driven trades. The Programme has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
