Pakistan TVET REFORM Support Programme Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Reform support Programme
PESHAWAR, Aug 11, 2014: The newly established Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Agency (KP-TEVTA) hasformulated its first-ever annual work plan, envisaging a number of activities to be undertaken to make technical and vocational education and training (TVET) relevant to the job market.
The annual work plan was developed in a three-day workshop concluded here on Sunday. Directors of the KP TEVTA, key officials and principals of the TVET institutes contributed to the work plan development. The plan was also presented to the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday.
Technical experts from the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, facilitated the process.
Annual work plan is a planning document, which combines the organization’s business strategy with an operational plan. KP-TEVTA has become the second organization after AJK TEVTA of having such a plan, which covers almost all the areas of the TVET sector’s ongoing reform.
Chairman TEVTA Mr. NaumanWazir chaired the proceedings of the workshop, which also involved group work on the key thematic areas such as governance, organizational development, public private partnership, competency based training etc.
Speaking on the occasion, MrWazir highlighted that the incumbent provincial government consider TVET as one of its priority sector and that is why it has taken a number of initiatives to streamline the TVET system of the province with an active participation from the private sector. He hoped that the implementation of the annual work plan will help improve the quality and relevance of TVET in the province.
On Monday, the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was given a briefing on the outcomes of the three days proceedings in the presence of media. The chief minister reiterated that the provincial government will leave no stone unturned to make the TVET system of the province according to the job market. He said for the first time TEVTA has been established and its leadership has been given to the private sector. He assured that the provincial government will allocate adequate financial resources for the sector so that the skilled workforce can be produced.
