Competency-Based Training was launched in 2015 with the launch of NVQF, and it further improved and developed in the form of various levels including CBT level 5 in 2020. The engagement of private sector in the TVET reform process is the key paradigm-shift by the government with the support of TVET Sector Support Programme. The CBT diploma as per CBT approach mainstreams vocational education in Pakistan with stronger market linkages. This training is an important stepping-stone towards full modernisation of the TVET system and a step to connect with general education system. With the training imparted in both institute-based and industry-based training arrangements, Pakistan TVET Sector Support Programme’s initiative to mainstream technical education and vocational training has great prospects in the future.
